The Maryland State Inspector role requires a clean record and proven mechanical experience. Review the three baseline requirements before registering.

01License
Active Driver's License

Valid driver's license with zero suspensions in the past three years.

02Experience
1 Year Auto Tech

Minimum of one year of hands-on automotive technician experience.

03Record
Clean Record

No felony convictions. Both driving and criminal history are reviewed.

Full MSI certification for passenger vehicles and light trucks. Prepares you to operate your own Class A inspection station. Includes theory, hands-on demo, and the 150-question practice exam before your State Trooper evaluation.

Motorcycle Safety Inspection

Specialized MSI certification for motorcycle inspection stations. Covers Maryland's Class M inspection standards, procedures, and equipment. Offered in conjunction with the Class A program.

ASE Cert Mechanic refilling motor oil

ASE G1 & 609 Prep

Certification prep for ASE G1 (Auto Maintenance & Light Repair) and ASE 609 (refrigerant handling). Ideal for technicians building out their credentials alongside MSI training.
